45:s

TAGES- Every Raindrop Means A Lot/Look What You Get (1967)

11th 45 from Sweden's finest. On my sleeve, the previous owner had written "Hejsan!" ("Hello!" in Swedish) on the lower right corner.

Enjoying some tea and cookies while trying on the latest psychedelic
fashion, summer 1966.
----------

CD:s

BLONDIE- Parallel Lines/Plastic Letters (Both from 1978)

Got it on the bargain. Not really the kind of music i'm going to write about on this blog, but pretty good anyway.

How to make a car stop. At least if there's a man behind the wheel.

David John & The Mood- Diggin' For Gold

David John & The Mood were a solid beat group from Lancashire who released three singles in '64 and '65. Here is their last and best one, produced by the one and only Joe Meek. Their lineup consisted of David John (vocals), Malcolm Isherwood (drums), John Brierley (bass), Peter Illingworth (guitar, harmonica) and Peter Atkinson (guitar). Included on 'Diggin' For Gold Vol. 1', 'The Alchemist Of Pop: Home Made Hits & Rarities...' and 'English Freakbeat Vol. 6'

Meekbeat? Left to right: Peter Atkinson, David John, John Brierley,
Malcolm Isherwood & Peter Illingworth

(Don't you just love the line 'Women, wine & whiskey, oh, that's the life for me'?)

The Mockingbirds- You Stole My Love

(Gouldman, second from right)

The Mockingbirds were a groovy little band from Manchester, with Graham Gouldman, who earlier wrote songs for groups like The Yardbirds, The Hollies and Herman's Hermits and later joined 10cc (which also featured Mockingbirds drummer Kevin Godley). They released five singles on Columbia, Immediate and Decca, and here is their best one.

(Interesting fact: That's a young Julie Driscoll on backing vocals)
